Amythest is a purple quartz and is a stone used at the crown chakra. It is considered a spiritual stone reaching the higher realms. In Tibet it is considered the Buddha’s stone so it is a wonderful stone for meditation and focus and heightening intuition. It is also considered a regal stone because the royal color is purple. The myth of Amethyst goes like this: Bacchus, the God of Wine, was walking with his tiger one day and quite irritated at a mortal who had disparaged him. He swore that the next mortal who walked by would have the tiger destroy him. As it happened, a beautiful maiden named Amethystos walked by on her way to the Temple of Diana. Diana immediately turned her into a beautiful statue of quartz and Bacchus was so distraught at his wish that he cried tears of wine over the quartz, staining it purple. Because of this association with the God of Wine, it has always been thought to protect one from drunkenness and overindulgence. The purple or violet ray is associated with the Ascended Master St. Germaine and is a special color for transmutation.

Garnet, the birthstone for January signifies eternal friendship and trust. The word garnet comes from the word granatum meaning its resemblance to a pomegranate seed.[1] Egyptians used garnets as inlays in jewelry. Its powers include healing, strength and protection and is often worn to relieve inflammations of the skin.[1] It is believed to regulate the heart and blood flow and can aid in curing depression.[2]
You can get beautiful, large garnets in its dodecahedron form as a faceted crystal.
Garnet is also known to be a stone for a successful business venture. It is especially good for executive decisions. Therefore, this meaning is consistent with the January Capricorn energy which is considered a Cardinal or action-oriented energy.
Because it helps in depression and is a stone for friendship, the garnet could be a wonderful stone to give someone in recovery and for those people who have felt like loners and want to bring in the energies of friendship and like minded people into their lives.
Because of its dark red color it is a good stone to be used for the 1st Chakra, the Mudlahara Chakra, or the Base or Root Chakra located at the base of the spine. It is a grounding, balancing stone and the Root Chakra pertains to stability and security issues in our lives.

In the readings I have given of late, I have noticed a theme emerging–that of the mysteries of women priestesses, references of priests and rubies have been called for, the Sirian High Council. I most wholeheartedly recommend the books by Jesse Ayani which speaks directly about such things. “The Lineage of the Codes of Light” speaks about sapphires, Ascended Masters, Starseed, priestesses, and the feminine mysteries through the ages from Egypt to the Incas of the present day. The counterpart book to this is the “Brotherhood of the Magi” by the same author. Rubies, Ascended Masters, Starseed, priests and the masculine mission of protecting the priestesses and the Codes of Light are revealed in this book. I read the “Lineage of the Codes of Light” first and was so intrigued to follow the stories of these amazing women. But in reading the “Brotherhood of the Magi”, I am so impressed to read about how the Magi can use their love in very powerful way. One example is how they are able to communicate with animals, etc. I’m impressed because in terms of Ascension, we are all bringing forth working from our Heart energy instead of our intellect. By bringing forth our heart energy, we are more aligned with Source and the Unity of All. This book gives some excellent examples of the power and beauty of these men working from their heart energy! It models how to work from the heart and again how powerful it is to be connected to the Unity of All. Truly inspiring!
Both books point to how the Codes of Light and the Mission of the Magi are necessary for the upcoming Ascension of 2012. In my knowledge of the Ascended Masters and the Divine Masculine and Feminine Rays, the Sapphire Ray reflects the Masculine Ray and the Ruby Ray reflects the Feminine. In Jesse Ayani’s books the priestesses hold the sapphires and the priests hold the rubies. This is perfect, as the combination of the two rays are in held in perfect harmony and balance if one gender carries the stones, or “rays” of the opposite gender.
